LHS Toolkit

Learning health systems (LHS) are increasingly studied and proposed to create and use knowledge in care delivery, with the goal of improving outcomes through the confluence of science, informatics, incentives, and culture.  Learning health communities are a vital part of a learning health system. These communities consist of various stakeholders that work together to enable widespread continuous improvement.

Learning health communities are a vital part of a learning health system. These communities consist of various stakeholders that work together to enable widespread continuous improvement.

The aim of this project was to develop a publicly available toolkit to empower learning communities by providing guidance and tools for developing, implementing, and sustaining learning health systems on a global level.

Development of the toolkit was completed by the International Network for Activating Learning Health Systems (INACT-LHS) workgroup. This group is a network of scholars and practitioners working to activate LHS on a global scale. The group meets monthly and works together to publish the latest findings on LHS, host LHS workshops, and present tools for operationalizing learning health systems.

Toolkit website designed and built by team members; based on LHS framework developed by Foley & Vale (2022) for understanding, designing, developing, and evaluating LHS.
